When I took my first plane trip, I was scared, but excited. Here are some things that helped me through my flight. When the plane takes off, chew gum so that your ears don’t hurt. If you’re afraid of heights, don’t sit by the window, or pull down the shade if you have to sit by the window. If heights don’t bother you, look down on the world from the window.

To take your mind off of flying, ask one of your friends to write you a really long letter. Don’t read it until you’re on the plane. My friend recently flew to Australia, and I wrote her an eight-page letter before she left. She told me that the letter made her feel more comfortable on the plane. It will feel like your best friend is right there talking to you.

Try not to think about flying. Bring books, games, a music player, or paper and pen on the plane. Just keep busy and you won’t worry. Once you’re settled in and feeling comfortable, try looking out the window. It’s really amazing! I hope this helps.

If you are afraid, bring a special toy or something that makes you feel comfortable on the plane.

I think one of the best things a person can do in life is stand up to her fears. It will make you grow. It might not sound that fun, but it’s the truth. Just stay close to someone you love and think of happy things. You never know—it might not be so bad. I know you can do it!

Just relax, have fun, and bring plenty to do. Don’t be afraid because it’s really fun and the view is cool. It’s like going on a roller coaster—you are scared at first, but after you are done, you want to do it again and again.

Flying isn’t scary! When you first try it, takeoff and landing are a little scary. But soon those will probably become your favorite parts.

Don’t be afraid—flying is fun! The first time I went on a plane, I thought it was going to go straight up in the air like a rocket, but it didn’t. Also, the flight attendants give you snacks and sometimes show movies. Seriously, there is nothing to be afraid of.
