Past You Said It!
Ten-year-old Barbara asked this question: "What is one thing that people would never guess about you?"
These girls shared their thoughts:
One thing that people would never guess about me is that I am a triplet! People think that my brothers are twins because they look the same, but since I'm a girl and look different, they never guess that we're triplets.
–Hannah, age 12, Vermont
People would be surprised to know that I can read Egyptian hieroglyphics. They're hard to memorize, but I'm working on learning more.
–Julia, age 13, Indiana
I'm a vegetarian. When I tell people this, they wonder how I could never have had bacon! All I say is, "I've never tasted it, so I don't feel like I'm missing out at all." I love being a vegetarian.
–Tanvi, age 12, Michigan
People would probably never guess that I couldn't ride a bike until I was nine years old. One of my biggest fears was to get on a bike. But then I just got on and tried riding and eventually I realized that my parents weren't holding me anymore!
–Megan, age 10, Georgia
I don't like whipped cream. My mom says that I'm the only kid in the world who doesn't like whipped cream. Whenever I tell people this, they say, "How could you not like whipped cream?"
–Lydia, age 8, New Hampshire
One thing people would not guess about me is that I can wiggle my ears! My mom, grandpa, and uncle all have this crazy talent, too.
–Laura, age 10, New Jersey
I'm pretty shy, but what people don't know is that I love acting. When I'm in a play, I let the costumes, songs, and lines take over. I forget all about my stage fright.
–Elizabeth, age 9, Maryland
I have a blog about rescuing dogs, and it has had views from many places around the world, such as Germany, Russia, England, France, Israel, Venezuela, and Ireland. It's cool that I've been able to get the word out across the globe.
–Lili, age 10, Illinois
Since I'm kind of a girly girl, people would never think that I'm a skateboarder. I'm on a competitive team with mostly boys. When people see me wearing hoop earrings and a puffy skirt, they say, "Wow, you're a skateboarder?"
–Emma, age 13, Oregon
I'm a total klutz and nobody expects me to do anything graceful. Little do they know that on the weekends I go to a circus school! I swing on a trapeze and ride a unicycle.
–Isabella, age 12, Minnesota
Something that people would never guess about me is that I was on a cover of a magazine when I was four years old. My dad used to work at a magazine, and I was in it quite a few times.
–Abigail, age 10, North Carolina
Most people don't know that I write music. My friends know that I take saxophone lessons and that I've taught myself to play the piano, guitar, and ukulele, but they have no clue that I write most of the stuff I play.
–Christine, age 12, New Jersey
Something that most people don't know is that I used to live in Japan. I lived on a small island called Okinawa. When I tell people, they usually say, "That is so neat! I didn't know that about you."
–Corinne, age 13, Virginia
I have eyes that seem to change color based on my mood. My eyes are hazel most of the time, but when I'm excited, tired, or sad, they can appear to be brown, green, or blue. I think it's cool.
–Megan, age 12, Massachusetts
My short story was published in a book when I was in second grade!
–Melissa, age 10, Canada
I'm thirteen, but my seven-year-old sister and I share a birthday. Whenever we tell people that we are "twins" who are six years apart, they act as if they're trying to figure out a riddle.
–Val, age 13, New York
