Past You Said It!

Sweet Stuff

Ten-year-old Laura asked this question: "If you had to eat only one dessert for the rest of your life, what would you choose and why?"

These girls shared their thoughts:

If I had to eat one dessert forever, I'd choose cinnamon-sugar chips. I eat them with fruit salsa, and I know I'd enjoy this dessert the most.
–Hannah, age 10, New York

I would choose a brownie with vanilla ice cream on top. It's a great match because ice cream is cold and brownies are warm—the perfect year-round treat!
–Caroline, age 9, California

I'd love to eat my mom's chocolate buttermilk cake. It sounds odd, but the buttermilk is what makes the cake moist, and it tastes so good. My mom makes it on all of our birthdays.
–Hannah, age 13, Kentucky

Ice cream—there would be lots of flavors to choose from!
–Claire, age 11, Arkansas

I would eat a fruit parfait for my dessert, because I love the combination of yogurt and different kinds of fruit. I don't think I would ever get tired of eating this every day!
–Madeline, age 12, Michigan

I would definitely choose dark chocolate cupcakes with cream-cheese frosting. I've made these cupcakes several times from scratch. I love to make cupcakes, so it would be easy to eat (and make) this dessert.
–Gracie, age 14, South Carolina

I would have my mom's chocolate-chip cookie dough bars. I loved eating these when I was little, and I still love to eat them now.
–Lizzy, age 12, California

One thing that I would want to eat for the rest of my life would be cheesecake. It's my favorite dessert, and I never get sick of eating it.
–Carolina, age 10, South Carolina

I would pick my favorite coconut candy bar. My grandpa and I have eaten these candy bars together since I was little, so they bring back great memories. I love anything that's coconut-flavored.
–Alexi, age 12, Pennsylvania

I could live on my mom's banana bread. It actually tastes really good with brie (a type of cheese). The flavors just melt in my mouth.
–Corynne, age 10, New York

I'd have no problem eating frozen yogurt for the rest of my life. I could put lots of toppings on it—sprinkles, marshmallows, chocolate chips, you name it!
–Alyssa, age 12, Mississippi

The one dessert I could eat forever is my memaw's strawberry rhubarb pie.
–Gabrielle, age 10, Washington

I'd love to eat my mom's homemade gingerbread cookies topped with whipped cream and applesauce. These are so good, and they would always remind me of the yummy things my mom makes.
–Calli, age 9, Washington

I'm not a huge fan of sweets, so I'd pick fruit salad. When there's a party and I can choose between cake and fruit salad, I always eat the fruit.
–Annabel, age 11, Tennessee
