Pizzas with Pizzazz

A twelve-year-old American Girl fan asked this question: "If you could invent a pizza that no one has ever made before, what would you put on it and why?"

These girls shared their thoughts:

I would make a chicken taco pizza. The crust would be made out of taco shell, the sauce would be diced tomatoes, and then I'd add cheese, chicken, and lettuce. Yum!
–Macey, age 12, New Jersey

On my pizza, I'd replace the tomato sauce with hot fudge, I'd swap in white-chocolate chips for the cheese, and then I'd top it off with chocolate truffles instead of pepperoni. It would be a dessert pizza!
–Katie, age 11, New Jersey

How about a lasagna pizza? Both dishes can have meat and cheese, so why not add noodles to a pizza? I think that would be delicious.
–Jessica, age 12, Michigan

I'd invent a pizza you could draw on. I'd provide a special food-safe pencil that you could use to draw a picture on the pizza, and then you'd eat it. It would be so cool!
–Amanda, age 9, Florida

I'm from Hawaii, so I'd create a pizza that represents my state. It would have pork, fish, and bits of coconut. I think it would taste good!
–Kekili, age 12, Hawaii

I would invent a buttery-popcorn pizza. There would be a crunchy "pop" in every bite. And you could sprinkle popcorn seasoning on your pizza, too.
–Julia, age 13, New Jersey

I would create a breakfast pizza. The crust would be a pancake instead of pizza dough, there'd be syrup instead of tomato sauce, and it would have eggs and bacon for toppings.
–Karina, age 11, California

I would make a chocolate-covered cherry pizza. It would be my favorite flavor combination in the world!
–Felicia, age 9, Indiana

Since I'm lactose intolerant, I would make a dairy-free fruit pizza. I would use strawberries, pineapples, kiwi, lemon juice, and nondairy yogurt.
–Brooke, age 12, Texas

I'd love to make a cinnamon-roll pizza. I would use cinnamon-roll dough for the crust, cinnamon cream cheese for the sauce, and cinnamon-roll crumbles for the topping. Hmm, maybe I should try this!
–Adriel, age 11, Texas

I would make a pizza that's perfect for camping—it would have roasted marshmallows, peanut butter, and bananas.
–Bethany, age 12, Massachusetts

I would put strawberries and whipped topping on a plain pizza crust to create strawberry-shortcake pizza.
–Andrea, age 10, Maryland

I'd make an extra-spicy pizza. The hot sauce would be topped with buffalo chicken, peppers, and red pepper flakes (served with a side of hot sauce, of course!). If you can't tell, I love spicy food.
–Rose, age 12, Pennsylvania

I think it would be fun to create a birthday pizza to serve at parties instead of cake. The crust would be yellow cake, the cheese would be replaced with frosting, and the toppings would be colorful sprinkles. I bet my pizza would be a big hit.
