Past You Said It!
Eleven-year-old Hannah asked this question: "If you had a magic paintbrush that could make any artwork come to life, what would you paint and why?"
These girls shared their thoughts:
I would paint a scene from a book I love. It would be amazing to meet some of my favorite fictional characters. And I'd like to see the scenery from the book. I'd see my imagination come alive!
–Maria, age 12, Texas
If I could paint a scene that would come to life, I'd paint a waterfall in a peaceful forest. It would be the perfect place to relax, hang out with friends, or write stories.
–Valerie, age 13, Colorado
I would paint a rainbow. I know it sounds simple, but I'd love to ride it to a pot of gold!
–Gabriella, age 10, Virginia
I would paint a huge picture of galaxies, stars, and planets. I love learning about space, and it would be so cool to be able to see the Milky Way and other faraway things up close.
–Anna, age 13, Washington
I'd create artwork of my dream home. Someday I want to live in a cute little cabin in the woods. It would be next to a stream, and I'd have horses, too.
–Rachel, age 12, Texas
I would paint a seagull because I love seeing and hearing them when I go to Florida for vacations. In the background, there would be the ocean, a gorgeous sunset, and boats in the distance.
–Bridget, age 10, Michigan
If my painting came to life, I'd draw a picture of my cousin. She lives far away and I don't get to see her very often. She would suddenly appear, and then we could have fun together.
–Madison, age 12, Kansas
I would paint a picture of a beautiful mermaid. I love mermaids and think it would be awesome to have a mermaid friend. After she comes to life, she could live in the pond behind my house.
–Brooke, age 11, Maryland
I'd create a big winter mural. It doesn't snow where I live, so I'd love to be able to visit a snowy place without even traveling.
–Lacey, age 13, Florida
I would paint a scene of harp seals swimming in the Arctic. Harp seals are on the endangered species list, and they are my favorite animals. I don't want harp seals to be endangered anymore!
–Sophia, age 10, Colorado
I would paint a pretty mountain range in New Zealand. I really want to visit New Zealand and climb a mountain, so this way, I could do both at the same time.
–Amy, age 12, California
In my painting, I'd create a scene of my friends and I at the most awesome slumber party ever. That way, I could be with my friends at a slumber party whenever I like!
–Connie, age 10, Florida
I would make a craft studio for my house. I never have a place just for working on projects alone, so a personal studio would be excellent for me.
–Katie, age 11, New Jersey
I'd paint a puppy and make it come alive because I've always wanted a dog. Finally my wish would come true!
–Andrea, age 10, Wisconsin
I would paint a place where homeless families could stay. I care about people having a place to sleep and eat. That's definitely what I would paint if my artwork could come to life.
–Emma, age 9, Missouri
