She’s a dog lover and great baker who’s excited to start her business, Waggy Pup Tails. Sharing little treats and big love with dogs is her passion, and she can’t wait to put it into action.

Summer’s older sister. She’s almost 12 and loves to draw and paint.

Summer’s dad is a carpenter who can build anything. He is the main chef in the family and likes to be creative in the kitchen.
Rachel McKinny
Summer’s mom is an accountant who often travels for work. She doesn’t like to cook but she helps with prep and cleanup.
Aunt Olivia
Dad’s sister who stays with the family when mom travels for work. She owns a store called Makers & Bakers.
Fiona
A volunteer at Four Paws Animal Shelter where Summer helps. She’s a college student studying to be a veterinarian.
Daisy
Summer’s best friend, who makes cat toys and owns a business called Purr-fect Creations.
Crescent
The family’s one-year-old dog and the “best boy in the whole world.” He is a mixed breed from Four Paws Animal Shelter.
Fettuccine
Crescent’s cat cousin who belongs to Aunt Olivia. She has diabetes and needs medication on a regular basis.
Author Clare Hutton
Clare Hutton grew up in Columbia, Maryland, with a dog, two cats, several goldfish, a hermit crab, and an older brother and sister. She now lives with her family in an apartment in Queens, New York, where, unfortunately, pets are not allowed, so she frequently borrows her friends’ dogs. She has published many books for young readers, writing as both Clare Hutton and Clarissa Hutton.
Illustrator Maike Plenzke
Maike Plenzke studied illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences Department of Design. She currently lives in Berlin with her partner and their dog. In her studio full of plants, Maike loves to create colorful illustrations for book covers, magazines, comic books, and other exciting projects.
Illustrator Allison Steinfeld
Allison Steinfeld grew up in Connecticut, where she spent hours getting lost in library books. She currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with her two very fluffy cats. When not providing essential head scratches and belly rubs, she finds time to illustrate books like the Wait! What? series and the Kid Legends series.
